The Exchange in collaboration with BCAP (Brooklyn College AANAPISI Project), SAIL, Indigenous Studies Working Group, and BC Library is hosting a joint Filipinx American Heritage Month (FAHM) and Native American & Indigenous Heritage Month (NAIHM) Pasifika Night on Thursday, October 24, 5:30-8 p.m. at the Brooklyn College Tow Center Atrium.
At the event, we plan to spread awareness on the diversity and connections to Indigeneity among the Filipinx, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities, as well as current and social issues. We will have speakers such as Kris Kato from Fable USA Inc. and Osseania Productions LLC and Stacey Young from Hālāwai, along with performances by in-corpus and Dancers Unlimited NYC.
Throughout the night, we will have stations that showcase these cultures such as Lei-making, Kamayan Feast Traditions, an interactive film gallery, and a traditional Filipinx/Pacific Islander game. We hope to see you for a night of celebration and education.
