LGBTQIA+ Book Club: Giovanni’s Room, by James Baldwin

February 20 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us for our monthly LGBTQIA+ Book Club, where we explore powerful works that reflect and celebrate queer identities and experiences. In honor of Black History Month, our first book of the spring semester pays tribute to the literary brilliance of James Baldwin, an iconic voice in both Black and queer literature.

This month, we’ll be reading Giovanni’s Room, Baldwin’s groundbreaking novel that delves into themes of social isolation, gender and sexual identity, and the conflict of masculinity. The story follows David, a young American in Paris, as he embarks on a passionate yet tumultuous affair with an Italian man, Giovanni, while grappling with societal rejection and his own internalized struggles. Baldwin’s novel powerfully confronts the pain of self-denial and the consequences of living in a world that rejects one’s true self.

Reserve your space now to join the club and receive a free copy of Giovanni’s Room.
