The CUNY Haitian Studies Institute at Brooklyn College deplores the violence that has engulfed the Haitian nation and resulted in countless victims of assassinations, arsons, and other crimes. The most recent fatalities include the double murder of the journalist Diego Charles and the activist Marie Antoinette Duclair on June 29, followed by the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse on July 7. Our thoughts are with their respective families, and the many others that have lost loved ones during this long and dark period of socio-political unrest and insecurity. We offer our deepest condolences to all of them. Ultimately, we hope that the current crisis gets resolved to the benefit of the people. Moreover, we want the Haitian people to know that we stand with them as they journey away from these sociopolitical nightmares, and collectively undertake the social project of building sustainable democratic institutions.

Deklarasyon sou vyolans sosyo-politik ann Ayiti

15 Jiyè 2021

Enstiti Etid Ayisyen CUNY nan Bouklin Kolèj denonse vyolans sosyopolitik ki anvayi peyi d Ayiti epi lakòz anpil viktim: moun ki asasine, moun yo boule kay yo ansanm ak yo, ak lòt moun ki viktim lòt kalte krim. Pami dènye viktim yo, gen jounalis Diego Charles ak aktivis Marie Antoinette Duclair yo touye 29 jen, epi, gen Prezidan Jovenel Moïse yo asasinen 7 jiyè. N ap di tout fanmi machin malè ensekirite, vyolans politik pase lakay yo, yo nan lespri nou, e nou konprann doulè yo. Nou di yo tout pran kouray. An final, nou swete kriz sa a rezoud byen vit nan enterè pèp la. Epitou, nou vle fè pèp Ayisyen konnen n ap mache avè yo jiskaske yo fin travèse kafou malè sa a pou yo debouche sou on Ayiti tou nèf kote yo tout ansanm ap mete men pou yo konstri enstitisyon demokratik ki dirab.
