As a minor in literatures and cultures of the African diaspora, you will study the historical and cultural significance of the African-descended people across the diaspora. Through course work offered by the Africana Studies Department, the English Department, and others, you’ll gain skills in critical thinking, analysis, research gathering, contextualization, and communication.
Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections, and minors complement your major. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities, including as a teacher, professor, journalist, ambassador, immigration consultant, community outreach coordinator, legal assistant, or fundraising administrator.
