Where You'll Go

Declaring a minor allows you to explore interests outside of your major and make interdisciplinary connections. A minor in linguistics will set you apart as a candidate in such fields as foreign service, international business, translation and interpreting, lexicography, teaching, information technology, technical writing, and publishing, among others.

Minor Requirements (13–16 Credits)

A program of 13 to 16 credits as follows:

Linguistics 2001

Two courses from area 2 of the major.

At least one other course chosen from area 2 and/or area 3 of the major.

Each course must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Courses presented for this minor may not be counted toward the major in any of the departments listed under area 3 of the linguistics major. Students should meet with the program director to plan a program suited to their interests and career plans.
