In this minor, you’ll explore Earth’s dynamic processes, find fossils and minerals, test waters and analyze soils, examine rock outcrops to understand Earth’s history, and learn how the environment affects humans and how humans impact the environment. Our faculty members have experience and skills across the full spectrum of the earth and environmental sciences to help you navigate the rocks, soils, landscapes, coastlines, and waters of New York City and beyond.
Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections. Training in earth and environmental sciences could lead to careers such as technician, scientist, educator, naturalist, and manager. This program will help you develop skills and abilities that are applicable and marketable in a wide variety of jobs, from conservation scientist to science educator, and is particularly suitable for enhancing degrees in the life sciences.

Earth and Environmental Sciences 1101, 1201, and 12 credits in Earth and Environmental Science courses 2000 and higher, each completed with a grade of C- or higher at Brooklyn College.
