Office of the Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness

Mission

The Office of the Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership for a coordinated and collaborative process to plan and enact strategies to fulfill the college’s mission and strategic plan objectives. It also provides leadership for activities related to process improvement for key organizational and strategic initiatives as assigned by the president and the President’s Cabinet members. The office works to facilitate this collaborative process with partners across academic and administrative units in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating institutional and university strategic initiative efforts. The office also works to ensure that evaluation results are a part of budgetary considerations. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness’ research, evaluation, and assessment activities serve Brooklyn College stakeholders as well as external government and accreditation authorities.

Brooklyn College embraces “institutional effectiveness” based on the following position of the American Council on Education (ACE):

The dynamism and fluidity of current trends and those yet unimagined will continue to influence and shape higher education’s future. The degree to which institutions can harness their resources to achieve their objectives will depend upon the clarity of these objectives and the institution’s willingness to set priorities and solve its problems. This requires assessing the current status, designing a change process, developing and educating senior leaders, and the obligation and nimbleness to make significant widespread change at all levels. (ACE, 2017)
