December 19: Assistant Professor Mariana Torrente publishes “Neurodegenerative Disease Proteinopathies are Connected to Distinct Histone Post-Translational Modification Landscapes” in ACS Chemical Neuroscience. Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the research project.

December 1: Breakthrough research by Assistant Professor Mariana Torrente, while at the University of Pennsylvania, on a protein capable of breaking apart toxic protein aggregates appears in the prominent journal Science.

November 25: The department launches its Facebook page.

November 4: Associate Professor Ryan Murelli and Assistant Professor Emilio Gallicchio publish “Synthesis and biological assessment of 3,7-dihydroxytropolones” in Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry.

November 3: The Chemistry Careers blog this month features Elina Trofimovsky, M.D., a Brooklyn College alumna who become a successful endocrinologist. Learn what she has to say about chemistry, medical school, and being a medical doctor.

October 2017

October 28: Assistant Professor Torrente has been selected to participate in the Future Research Leaders Conference at the National Institutes of Health, the NRMN P3 Proposal Preparation Program at the University of Minnesota, and the 2017 IMAGE grant writing workshop hosted by the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

October 11: The Chemistry Careers blog now features Dr. Michelle Leuenberger, a Brooklyn College alumna who went on to earn her Ph.D. from Berkeley and now works as an engineer for Intel. Learn what she has to say about chemistry, studying abroad, and the excitement and challenges of earning a Ph.D.
