Film Professor Robert Tutak’s historical documentary, Ellis Island: The Making of a Master Race in America will be broadcasted on CUNY TV from April 7 through April 9 at 2:30 p.m.

Tutak wrote, directed, and produced the film which explores the influences of eugenics on U.S. immigration policies from the early 20th century to present. The documentary examines racial-purification policies that were implemented on Ellis Island to create a superior race through selective breeding, sterilizations, and social elimination that prevent many immigrants from coming to America.

The feature film is part of CUNY TV Presents, a new film festival initiative that showcases the work of New York City and CUNY filmmakers cinematic work throughout the five boroughs and explores their experiences through film.
