Film students Rasa Partin, Ben Remetz and Andrew Roder beat out 10 other finalists to win top prize in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s 2013/2014 Savvy Credit Video Festival with their entry “Elevate Your Credit.” Chosen by a panel of industry professionals, the first-place video shows the pitfalls of irresponsible credit use versus the advantages of building a strong credit score. Along with career advice from a leading entertainment professional, the winners received a total of $3,000 from the New York Bankers Association, the festival’s sponsor. “Elevate Your Credit” will also be shown at several movie theaters throughout New York City. The New York Fed’s Regional & Community Outreach team started the festival in 2009 to help strengthen financial literacy among young adults. College students are asked to create a 30-second video encouraging smart credit use. The New York Fed sponsors two festivals annually: one for the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and another in Puerto Rico. More than 30 videos from 18 different colleges and universities were submitted this year.
