As an African studies minor, you will focus on the historical and cultural issues of Africa and its descendants. You will also study the experiences of African people and African-descended people across the diaspora. You will gain skills in critical thinking, analysis, research gathering, contextualization, and communication.
Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections, and minors complement your major. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities, including as a teacher, professor, journalist, ambassador, immigration consultant, community outreach coordinator, legal assistant, or fundraising administrator.
