Program Overview

As an Asian studies minor, you will develop analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills while learning about the cultures, history, and languages of Asian countries. You will complete courses from two or more departments, such as American Studies, Anthropology, Business, Communications, Film, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, and Sociology. You also have the opportunity to study Chinese.

Where You'll Go

Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections, and minors complement your major. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities in international trade and industry, teaching and academic research, the diplomatic Foreign Service, immigration, and social service.

Minor Requirements (12 Credits)

Twelve credits chosen from the courses of two or more departments as specified below.

No more than six credits in languages may be used toward the minor.

Each course must be completed with a grade of C- or higher. At least six of these credits must be completed at Brooklyn College.

Courses presented for this minor may not be counted toward the major in any of the participating departments.
