Info For
As a classics minor, you will explore the worlds of the ancient Greeks and Romans. You’ll have the opportunity to master Greek and Latin, which gives you a unique advantage in the sciences and liberal arts. Classics instructors know that you learn best when you put your brain to work. This means classes include open discussions, group activities, and guided close readings.
Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections, and minors complement your major. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities in medicine, law, finance, technology, communications, or all levels of teaching. Careers in communications also specifically demand the type of rhetorical training and broad knowledge base provided by studying the classics.
The program information listed here reflects the approved curriculum for the 2024–25 academic year per the Brooklyn College Bulletin. Bulletins from past academic years can be found here.
