In this minor, you will explore human communication and disorders. You will be trained to become a thoughtful and effective communicator who is mindful of how people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds behave, speak, and communicate. You’ll develop a basic understanding of the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, and become familiar with the disorders that affect the ability to communicate.
With this minor, you can complete some prerequisite courses required for graduate degrees in communication sciences or gain a foundation in adjacent fields in the medical and allied health professions, education, and behavioral sciences.
