By declaring a minor in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) studies, you will have the opportunity to study the social, political, medical, and theoretical foundations of what we call sexuality. With this minor, you’ll obtain an enhanced understanding and appreciation both of the sexual diversity of the world and of the complex ways in which sexuality intersects with other categories of identity and practice.
A minor allows you to make interdisciplinary connections and expand your academic studies beyond your major. With a minor in LGBTQ studies, you can set yourself apart as a candidate in a variety of professions, such as social work, public health, journalism, law, academia, and archivism, to name a few.
