Preprofessional Explorations: Focus on Children in Social Services and the Law, Minor

Program Overview
Through this minor, you will come to understand the complexity and diversity of social conditions that children experience around the world, and gain skills in research and advocacy. You will observe and consider childhood and adolescence through the lenses of social sciences, the arts, and the sciences as well as from a human rights perspective.

Minor Requirements (12 Credits)
The program director, with the approval of the program’s advisory committee, may allow substitutions for one or more of following requirements consistent with the educational goals of the program.
Students must complete 12 credits for the minor.
One course from the following: Children and Youth Studies 2100 or 3110
Three courses from the following: Children and Youth Studies 3120, 3310, 3610, 3620, 3320, 3700, 4100
All courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
A minimum of nine credits must be completed at Brooklyn College.
Students interested in this minor should consult with the Children and Youth Studies program adviser to plan an appropriate sequence of courses and to declare their minor.
