As a sociology minor, you will focus on how societies and their institutions, organizations, and groups work together. You will develop a deeper understanding of the relationships between individuals and the larger society. You will study diverse social issues and social structures as well as the dynamics of power and inequality on local, national, and global levels. Your courses will emphasize the concepts and practice of social justice, civic and community involvement, and the rights and responsibilities of global citizenship.
Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections, and minors complement your major. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities in such fields as public policy, law, education, public service, and marketing.
