Federal TEACH Grant Program

About the Program

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is a federal financial aid (Title IV) program designed for students who are enrolled in an eligible program and intend to teach in a Title l school that serves students from low-income families. The program provides a specific grant per year to students who are completing or plan to complete course work needed to begin a career in teaching.

Eligibility

The TEACH Grant Program is available for undergraduate seniors with a minimum of 90 credits in an approved program and graduate students in a qualifying program.

Obligations

As a condition for receiving a TEACH Grant, you must sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve in which you agree to meet the TEACH Grant Service Obligation.

Note: If you do not complete your service obligation, all TEACH Grant funds you received will be converted to a Direct Unsubsidized Loan. You must then repay this loan to the U.S. Department of Education, with interest charged from the date the TEACH Grant was disbursed (paid to you or on your behalf).
