On Monday evening, November 11, Brooklyn College hosted a Presidential Lecture Series with the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations. Protesters disrupted a reception for audience members held thereafter in the atrium of the performing arts center. Brooklyn College protects students’ rights to free speech and peaceful assembly. That freedom does not include the ability to disrupt scheduled events or harass others. Protestors must adhere to reasonable time, place and manner restrictions on protests. We have referred this incident to the Office of Diversity and Equity and Judicial Affairs to take appropriate action.
