Twenty Brooklyn College undergraduates were inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, a national mathematics honor society that promotes and recognizes mathematical scholarship among students in postsecondary institutions.
The formal induction ceremony was held on March 27, 2025. There were many students, faculty, and staff from the math department and the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences in attendance, as well as national Pi Mu Epsilon President-Elect Professor Thomas Wakefield of Youngstown State University.
Brooklyn College’s chapter of this society, New York Gamma Chapter, was originally chartered in 1933, but had been inactive for nearly 40 years. Mathematics lecturer Mark Gibson led the reactivation of our chapter with the help of the Brooklyn College Math Club.
