The Brooklyn College Alumni Association (BCAA) provides a lifelong association between Brooklyn College of the City University of New York and its alumni by supporting the mission, students, faculty, and programs of the college. The primary charge of the BCAA is to foster, maintain, and enhance the alumni connection to the college by providing activities, services, and programs for regional chapters, graduating classes, and professional and cultural affiliate groups. Upon graduation, alumni begin a lifelong relationship with the college. Many participate as mentors, internship sponsors, and career advisers in programs designed to assist students while they are still in school.
The BCAA is an independently incorporated, 501(c)(3) organization with a national board of directors elected by the membership who operate under a set of bylaws. Under the auspices of the BCAA, our chapters and affiliates select their own leaders and organize cultural and social events. Everyone involved works on a voluntary basis.
Any member* of the Brooklyn College Alumni Association may be nominated to stand for election as a director at large. Candidates may be nominated either by the board of directors or by petition, which must be signed by at least 50 members of the association. Each nomination requires a separate petition.
All persons nominated by valid petitions must be named as candidates to stand for election as a board of director, together with such other persons as may be nominated by the nominations committee and the board of directors of the association.
Any board member desiring to be president must have at least one year of executive board position experience prior to seeking the position of president.
