Walking tours are free, but some sites charge for admission or docents; fees are shown.

We will have tours of two historical sites in Brooklyn Heights: Plymouth Church at 10 a.m. (for approximately 45 minutes), followed by a tour at the Center for Brooklyn History at 11:30 a.m.
In recognition of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday and Black History Month, we will visit Plymouth Church and the Center for Brooklyn History. At Plymouth Church we will learn about Lincoln’s historic visit to the church while he was campaigning for president, as well as the church’s role, under the ministry of Henry Ward Beecher, in fighting slavery and as a stop on the Underground Railroad. We will then tour the Center for Brooklyn History, which will feature an exhibit for Black History Month.
This site in lower Manhattan is the oldest and largest known excavated burial ground in North America for both free and enslaved Africans. It projects the historic role slavery played in building New York. We will visit both the outdoor and indoor museum sections of the site on our self-guided tour.
Join us for these docent-led guided tours, held on Fridays.

We will be going to Hunterdon Hills Playhouse to see Swing! It combines high-energy singing, dancing, and acrobatics to celebrate the music of the swing era of jazz. It features well-known tunes by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Bennie Goodman, and others. Together with the development of the music, various forms of swing dancing emerged, such as the jitterbug and lindyhop in Harlem and the whip in Houston. Swing! received a nomination in 2000 for the Tony Award for Best Musical.
We’re still finalizing the details, but we have one of the most unique trips that we’ve ever planned coming up, tentatively during the first week of May. We will be going to BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Jersey. It is among the largest Hindu temples in the world. A tour guide will share their knowledge of the artistic details while exploring the temple. More than 12,500 volunteers from around the world helped to construct the site over the course of 12 years. The temple opened in fall 2023. Be prepared to marvel!
