You do not need departmental permission to enroll in ENGL 1010 or ENGL 1012.
If you are getting a message that you need departmental permission, you are trying to enroll in a section that is reserved for special programs. You can find this information under “Class Notes” on CUNYFirst. Unless you are in these programs, you can simply register for an open section without departmental permission.
You must be in one of the followings special programs to enroll in ENGL 1010 or ENGL 1012 sections ending in the following letters:
