Help From Their Peers: Making the Most of Your Peer Mentor

February 15 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Your class of first-semester college students aren’t responding to your e-mails, and their e-mails to you are confusing and unsigned. You notice that many of your students are not taking notes in class, and you are concerned about their study skills. You talk to your students about the Learning Center and your office hours, yet few go to either.

Fortunately, if you have a peer mentor assigned to your class, you have an additional resource. In this interactive workshop, you will learn how to maximize your partnership with your peer mentor. Find out how they can complement and assist you in achieving your goals for your class and supporting students beyond the classroom. Led by Lisa Schwebel and Carly Zerbe (Honors Academy), this workshop will discuss the Peer Mentoring Program’s goals and proven outcomes, with examples of successful professor/mentor partnerships from previous semesters.
