Senior physics major LaToya Anderson just attended the March national meeting of the American Physical Society (APS), where she gave a presentation on calculations she is doing at the Simons Foundation on superatomic crystals and won a top undergraduate presenter prize. In her presentation to our Physics Department, she will give an undergraduate-appropriate talk about the materials she works on and the calculation techniques she uses, talk about specific research opportunities involving the kind of computational techniques and resources that she uses at the Simons Foundation, discuss the APS March meeting and the experiences available at the meeting for undergraduates and others at the early stages of their physics careers, and review approaches she has used to find opportunities and fellowships.
