“Reckonings”: Documentary and Discussion about Post-Holocaust Reconciliation

The Judaic Studies Department will be screening of the documentary, Reckonings, followed by a panel discussion by experts about the reconciliation process between Germany and the Jewish people following the Holocaust.

When your country has done the unthinkable to another people, how do you make amends? When the unthinkable has been done to you by another people, how do you reconcile with them? This film documents the process that the German government and the Jewish people engaged in after the Holocaust. The panel features Professor Elazar Barkan of Columbia University and Dr. Avi Weber, Visiting Scholar in Judaic Studies at Brooklyn College, and it will be moderated by Professor Sharon Flatto of the Judaic Studies Department.
