The Brooklyn College Film Department’s highly anticipated 41st Undergraduate Film Festival is free and open to the public. For 41 years, this signature event has celebrated student accomplishments through annual screenings of thesis films.
The 2023 Festival will be held in Brooklyn College’s modern Don Buchwald Theatre and will showcase the culmination of undergraduates’ filmmaking education in every aspect of the filmmaking process. The showcase boasts a wide variety of short films to satisfy every palate – from hilarious comedies to thought-provoking dramas, to deeply moving and personal documentaries. Many of the thesis films go on to win honors and awards at national and international film festivals.
The festival is sponsored by Brooklyn College Film Department, the School of Visual, Media and Performing Arts, and a wide range of long-standing industry sponsors including, Abel Cine, Adorama, Canon, Gotham Sound, Xeno Lights, AVID, IFC Center, New York Women In Film & Television, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Film Forum, Movie Magic Screenwriter, and Eclectic/Encore Props.
Screenings run all day starting at noon. The Faculty Selects Showcase will start at 7 p.m., followed by an Awards Ceremony.
