Curious about how effectively Brooklyn College recycles? A waste audit is a structured investigation designed to quantify the volume and types of waste produced within a specific building area. Data gleaned from these audits are invaluable for assessing current recycling practices and pinpointing areas for improvement. In college settings, waste audits educate students about the significance of recycling, evaluate the efficiency of existing waste management systems, integrate hands-on learning into various academic disciplines, engage in the scientific processes of data collection and analysis, and identify strategies for reducing consumption and promoting material reuse.
In conjunction with the Sustainability Fair, join Campus Sustainability, along with the Waste Audit volunteer team, including Student Affairs, SAIL Center, BC Greek Council, BC Sustainability Club, NYPIRG, Facilities Buildings and Grounds, students, staff, and faculty for a firsthand look at the waste we generate. The goal of the audit is to analyze our waste stream and identify ways to cultivate a less wasteful campus. Pizza and refreshments will be provided to volunteers.
