In recognition of World AIDS Day, Distinguished Professor of Film Alexandra Juhasz and author Theodore Kerr will read selections from their recent book, We Are Having This Conversation Now: The Times of AIDS Cultural Production. They will also speak about their experiences in AIDS activism and cultural production, and how they do “AIDS work” in a lively community today.
We Are Having This Conversation Now offers a history, present, and future of AIDS through 13 short conversations between Juhasz and Kerr. They establish multiple timelines of the epidemic, offering six foundational periodizations of AIDS culture, tracing how attention to the crisis has waxed and waned from the 1980s to the present.
