Judith Kenny
Judith Kenny is deeply connected to the CUNY mission. She is an alumnus of the Brooklyn College Film Department, earning her bachelor’s degree in film with a concentration in film production. She received her Master of Public Administration with a specialization in public management from Baruch College’s Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. In addition to being the department’s academic and administrative manager, she serves as the primary adviser to film students with a keen interest in supporting career awareness and development. Kenny teaches courses within the Industry Studies track in the department, focusing on the business aspect of film production. She has worked professionally as a producer, production manager, and assistant director.
Charles Carr
Charles Carr is the technology manager of the Film Department and oversees the department’s computer labs, Avid Media Server, software access, and classroom assistive-technology. He has worked as a location sound recordist, post-editor, podcast and radio engineer, and creative voice in academic technology support since 2009. Carr holds a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism and is currently enrolled in the master of fine arts in sonic arts program at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema.
Michael Irgang
Michael Irgang is the equipment distribution manager. While earning his Masters of Fine Arts in television production from Brooklyn College, Irgang received a Student Emmy nomination for producing the live-streamed web series Brooklyn’s Best (2016) as well writing and directing his award-winning short film Garbaggio (2017). As a graduate of the Brooklyn College undergraduate Film Department, Michael learned the skills necessary to be hired as a digital cinema service technician at Abel Cine.
Ruben Rodriguez
Ruben Rodriguez is the administrative coordinator for the Film Department with more than 12 years of experience working for CUNY. He earned his Master of Science in education for higher education administration from Baruch College (CUNY). He assists the director of academic affairs and operations and department chair with the administrative functions for the department. He derives great fulfillment from providing support to students as they navigate their education experience.
Jonniece Howard
Jonniece Howard is a distribution assistant working in the Film Department Equipment Room. She is a production major in the Film Department and has been focusing her skill set toward a career as a location sound recordist. Howard has provided her services to many Film Department thesis productions as well as professional productions within the industry.
Claressa Shelton
Claressa Shelton is an alumna of the Film Department, earning her bachelor’s degree in film with a concentration in cinema studies. She is currently earning her Master of Arts with a specialization in screen studies from the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. In addition to being one of the department’s office college assistants maintaining the weekly newsletter and Info Hub, she also works professionally on film productions as a member of the Local 817 locations union in and around New York City.
