The event was held at the headquarters of Aon plc, which, along with PwC and KPMG is a “platinum” career partner. On January 18, members of the Brooklyn College family gathered at the NYC headquarters of global professional services firm Aon plc to celebrate two new Brooklyn College initiatives: the Career Partners and Alumni Champions programs. Launched last November, Brooklyn College Career Partners allows businesses and organizations to invest in the college’s diverse talent and students are given opportunity to become candidates for employment in the participating companies. Aon, the multinational professional services network KPMG, and the international professional service firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), are the program’s inaugural “Platinum Partners.” These three corporate leaders serve as a model and inspiration for other businesses and organizations to participate, resulting in a robust career pipeline at the college. Aaron Olson, Executive Vice President of Aon United Solutions at Aon, speaks at an event at Aon’s New York City headquarters celebrating the launch of the Career Partners and Alumni Championship programs at Brooklyn College. The January event, hosted by Brooklyn College President Michelle J. Anderson and Aaron Olson, executive vice president of Aon United Solutions at Aon, included Alumni Champions among its guests. The champions are a network of highly committed alumni who work with the college to connect students to colleagues in their own companies. They amplify awareness of the many ways alumni can contribute to the success of the college, its students, through internships and scholarships, and an ever-expanding network of more than 160,000 alumni. They also serve as fundraising champions for the college’s Giving Days, and facilitate introductions to company executives with whom Brooklyn College can explore unique corporate engagements and collaborations. At the foundation of the programs is the opportunity for employers to expand their partnership with the Brooklyn College Magner Career Center. The center works closely with the Career Partners to connect corporate leaders with student talent through strategy consultations, career events, and campus engagement. According to the director of the Magner Career Center, Natalia Guarin-Klein, the value of the relationships with Career Partners cannot be overstated. “The kind of access that the program provides to Brooklyn College students is especially valuable as many of our immigrant and first-generation students need to build their professional networks,” she says. “These partners allow for networking opportunities and the real-world preparation our students need to transition successfully after graduation.” Visit Brooklyn College Career Partners program and learn how to connect with the college’s diverse pool of talented students.
