With a mask policy, strict social distancing, class-size limits, and a combination of remote, hybrid, and in-person courses, the fall 2021 semester got off to a good start. The college hosted the NYC Vaccine Van for a week in September, in which anyone receiving their first dose got a $100 gift card. Two thumbs up for the COVID-19 vaccine. Both the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson shots were available. Campus mascot Buster greeted students and employees upon their return to campus. Buster especially missed the students. Over the summer, Carpenter Tom Doherty helped prepare the campus for the fall return. Campus Peace Officer Edmund Marbury was one of the essential workers who held down the campus during the pandemic. President Michelle J. Anderson (center) celebrated a new health care career alliance in August with then Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul (to Anderson’s right), CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez (far left), State Sen. Kevin Parker (behind Anderson), and the presidents of Medgar Evers College and Kingsborough Community College. President Michelle J. Anderson talked to students as they returned to campus in late summer. For the first time since the spring 2020 semester, Brooklyn College welcomed students back on campus this fall.
