Communicate with your neighbors in their native tongue, whether they’re next door or on the other side of the world.
Knowing another language is one of the most valuable skills you will ever possess, and learning it at Brooklyn College—located in one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse areas in the world—will be one of the wisest decisions you ever make. You can major in French, Italian, Russian, or Spanish; pick up a minor in any of those languages as well as Chinese or German; and dabble in Arabic, Haitian Creole, Japanese, and Portuguese. With fluency in another language—and the cultural connections that are inextricably linked to it—you will not only travel the world with more confidence, but you’ll also become a very desirable candidate for careers in almost any position imaginable, from education to law, international relations to business, and government to the arts, to name just a few.
