The School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences works closely with the Magner Career Center to offer our students events and services designed to prepare them for a successful career. Through partnerships with employers, staff, faculty, and alumni, the center develops programs to meet the specific needs of the students in the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences.
Recent graduates of the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences who actively prepared for their career by participating in internships and using the Magner Career Center’s services have found career success after graduation. Graduates hold prestigious positions, including: medical director at Omega Diagnostic Imaging, associate veterinarian at Round Out Valley Veterinary Associates, software engineer at Viacom, software engineer at IBM, clinical nurse at NY Presbyterian, HR coordinator at the Department of Transportation, audiology assistant at New York Otolaryngology, and more!
Through job fairs, the internship database, and internship panels, the Magner Career Center gives the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences students access to internships and employers at a wide variety of companies, including: Maimonides Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital, CVS Health, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Speedway, and Equinox Fitness.
The Magner Career Center selects winners from each school to receive internship stipends. Winners are selected twice a year, and students should apply the semester before they plan to intern.

The Magner Career Center’s Alumni Mentoring Program pairs students with a mentor in their field of interest. Mentors have come from organizations including: Amazon, SUNY Downstate, Montefiore Medical Center, Memorial Sloane Kettering, NYU Langone, and Small Planet Digital. The center also hosts mentor luncheons and networking nights as another way to connect students with alumni.
The Magner Career Center and the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences bring back successful alumni to serve as speakers and participants in career workshops and panels, mentor luncheons and networking nights. Past participants include: chief medical officer at Johnson & Johnson, owner of Sam Schwartz Engineering, global control operator at Goldman Sachs, and executive recruiter at Northwell Health. Events and programs specific for the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences have included: The STEM Career Conference, How to Land an IT Internship: Recruiters’ Secrets, How to Find a Job in Healthcare, Careers for Psychology Majors, Careers for Actuarial Majors, Science Internships, and Environmental, Sustainable, and Socially Conscious Careers and Internships.
Learn first-hand about a profession of your interest and its career requirements through a visit to a company’s office. Past visits have been to companies such as Google, Yelp, NY Methodist Hospital, The Food Network, American Museum of Natural History and the Arthur Ashe Institute of Urban Health. The visits are often hosted by Brooklyn College alumni.
The Magner Career Center provides additional services including career planning, career assessments, LinkedIn training, pre-law advising, résumé review, and interview preparation.
