Percy Ellis Sutton SEEK Program

The Percy Ellis Sutton Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge (SEEK) program is here to make sure you get the support and guidance you need to start and complete your bachelor’s degree.

The Support You'll Receive

Student Support Specialist

Working with an assigned academic student support specialist, students will have the opportunity to:

  • discuss their academic progress and plan,
  • be informed of resources both within and outside of Brooklyn College,
  • address personal issues impacting academic progress, and
  • explore career options and opportunities.

Exclusive Access

The SEEK Learning and Study Center offers a computer lab, a quiet room, group learning, and tutors and learning coaches—all with the sole purpose of helping you succeed in each semester.

Financial Support

Expanded financial assistance is provided in the form of educational stipends and payment of student fees. SEEK members are eligible for eight semesters of TAP, with the possibility of two extra semesters. The commitment fee is waived for SEEK members.

Expectations

As a member of the SEEK program, you will work with a team of staff who will assist you in navigating your college career. This partnership will consist of shared responsibilities that will require you to play an active role.

To accomplish this, you must:

  • attend all class meetings for each course you take,
  • meet monthly with your assigned SEEK counselor,
  • attend weekly tutorial sessions with SEEK academic staff,
  • write and develop your college goals for each semester, and
  • attend monthly seminars.

By joining the SEEK program, you agree to actively engage in each of these activities. Members who fulfill their end of the bargain are more likely to graduate in four years with a strong grade point average and less stress.

About SEEK

The SEEK program is the legislatively mandated higher education opportunity program at each of the senior colleges of the City University of New York. Established in 1966, the SEEK program provides special academic, financial, and counseling assistance to students entering college for the first time.
