Cancellation and Refund Policies

For Brooklyn College-Administered Study Abroad Programs

A student confirms his or her program participation through the return of the signed Letter of Confirmation of Participation to IPSA within seven days of the date of the letter. By signing the Confirmation of Participation letter, the student authorizes IPSA and the program leader to expend funds on his or her behalf related to program participation and acknowledges the student’s responsibility to pay for those expenditures. A student is responsible for program-related expenditures made on  his or her behalf until he or she has notified IPSA in writing of withdrawal from the program.

Cancellation of Program Participation

Participants wishing to cancel their program participation must do so in writing. Program withdrawal will be official from the time and date that the written communication was received by IPSA and will trigger the following refund policies.

Refund Policies

Students who cancel their program participation will be reimbursed for recoverable expenses made on their behalf up to, but not including, the start date of the program. Once the Letter of Confirmation has been signed and returned to IPSA, students who cancel their program participation are responsible for all nonrecoverable program expenses made on their behalf, regardless of whether or not they actually went on the program.

Students who cancel their program participation on or after the start date of the program will be responsible for the full cost of program participation (program fee) as indicated on the IPSA website.

Note

* This policy varies from that of the BC Study Abroad in China program cancellation policy. Participants of the China program should refer to the cancellation policy for that specific program.
